Usmanu Danfodiyo University, UDUSOK 2011/2012 Admission list is out

This is to inform the general public and aspirant that the admission list for entrance into the Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto has been Released.

Please follow the instructions below strictly to register your Cafe for the UTME 2012 registration. Please note that unless you register your centre and it is approved, you cannot take part in the forthcoming registration of candidates for the UTME 2012 registration exercise.
*. You are expected to register your business name as a registration centre.
*. You are required to pay a REFUNDABLE CAUTION FEE of N 10,000 (Ten Thousand Naira) Only
*. Make sure you specify a valid email address because your Access Code shall be sent to you via this medium.
*. On submission of your centre registration form, an acknowledgment slip shall be sent to your email, which contains your business Reference Number and other details
*. Please print this slip, take it to the nearest Zenith Bank Plc and make payment into Account( UTME12CYBER; Account No. 1012830959 ), specifying your reference number on the teller
*. Please scan your teller and sendit by email to utme12cyber@gmail.com
*. Upon confirmation of your payment, your Access Code shall be sent to you via your email address
*. The Access Code is Non-Tranferable , and you areliable for all the transactions done with the Code .
*. JAMB has the right to withdraw the Code, if after inspection discovered that your office doesnot exist or your facilities are inadequate or you engage in activities contrary to the conduct of the registration including overcharging of candidates for registration
*. Registration centres (Cafes) shall charge candidates a maximum of N 700 (Seven Hundred Naira) only per candidate including full registration and printing of two (2) copies of e-Registration Slip*. Futa Releases 2011/2012 PDS Screening Result

The Federal University of Technology, Akure has publish the results of the 2011/2012 PDS screening exams on their official portal.
To check the result, you will need the form number, a 4 digits number on the examination printout.

Vacancies exist in some departments, not in all. So read in between lines to find out where you best fit in. Selection is based on two criteria:-
1. Your post UTME score must be up to 180.
2. The average of your JAMB and post UTME scores "must" be equal to or above the cut-off for the department you intend shopping for.

Application Form into Unilorin 2011/2012 Remedial Prgramme out

ADVERTISEMENT OF REMEDIAL PROGRAMME FOR 2011/2012 SESSION
Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Preliminary Studies programme in Agriculture, Arts, Arts Education, Communication and Information Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Science and Science Education for the 2011/2012 academic session.

(a) Venue of Programme
The venue of the programme shall be at the School of Preliminary Studies, Fufu, Ilorin South Local Government Headquarters, Kwara State.

Admission Requirements

(b) Qualifications

1. Arts, Arts Education
(i) Applicants must pass five subjects at Credit level at not more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE organized by WAEC/NECO, NABTEB and should include the major subject of study.
(ii) Two of the five subjects must be from Arts while the others may be from the Social Sciences.

Note: There is no Remedial programme in B.A.(Hons) English.

2. Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Science and Science Education.
Applicants must pass the following subjects at credit level: English Language, Chemistry, Biology,Mathematics and Physics at not more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE, organized by WAEC/NECO, and NABTEB.

(c) Specific Requirements
(i) Faculty of Agriculture will accept Credit grade in Agricultural Science in lieu of credit grade in Biology.

(d) Duration of Programme
The programme is for a duration of two semesters (one academic session)

(e) Eligibility
The Remedial programme is primarily open to applicants from the catchment areas of the University of Ilorin: Benue, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara states.

(f) General Conditions
(i) Applicants from educationally disadvantaged local government areas of Kwara State e.g. Edu, Baruten, Moro and Kaiama may be considered for admission with three credits provided an F9 grade is not obtained in any of the five subjects. Such candidates must however redeem their "O" level deficiencies latest by the end of their 100 level programme.
(ii) Candidates who want to study Engineering must obtain credit grades in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
(iii) Applicants must write the 2011/2012 JAMB/UTME with relevant subject combination to any programme in either Arts or Sciences and must obtain the minimum pass mark approved by the Federal Government.
(iv) Applicants are to note that the programme is non-residential.

(g) Method of Application
Candidates should pay the sum of N5000.00 (five thousand naira) at any of the banks registered with e-tranzact and obtain a pin vending (receipt number and confirmation order number) which will be used for on-line completion of application. Each candidate is expected to download the form to confirm his/her Local Government and it must be endorsed by the Chairman/Secretary of the Local Government. A candidate who is offered admission will be expected to bring the form and SSCE/GCE certificates/result slips during registration. Closing date for submission of form is Friday, 18th November, 2011.

Step by step instruction for a successful and quick registration and clearance at FUTO

Before I begin I will like to congratulate to all those that got admitted to the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO).It is a great thing that you got admitted after all the stress you underwent right from writing the JAMB exam to buying form for the institution’s aptitude test to the actual exam and all the tension you had waiting for the result and list respectively.

Luckily for me I got admitted also into the institution. My name came out on the second list which was released few days ago. I was admitted into the department of Information and Management Technology. However after doing most of my registration and clearance I thought it was pertinent to at least reach out to my fellow students who may be having problem doing their clearance and registration as well as those expecting their names in subsequent list to be released. If you will follow this step by step guild I will be giving you. I promise you won’t find it difficult at all doing your registration.

Now let’s get to business

1.       Pay you acceptance fee at First City Monumental Bank (FCMB) located at wetheral road Owerri. It’s #25,000 Make photocopy of the receipt and keep

2.       Go to a cyber café preferably at school and get these documents; ORIGINAL JAMB RESULT, ADMISSION LETER FROM JAMB and ADMISSION LETTER FROM SCHOOL. All these will cost you about #3,200

3.       Now make a photocopy of these documents together with your acceptance fee teller. Stop a bike at the school park; tell him you are going to the senate. When you get to the senate walk up to the first floor by the left and you will see students waiting to submit their documents for the confirmation of their admission. Submit yours and come back in three days time to get yours. NB: don’t go there if you know that you didn’t merit the admission to avoid embarrassment.

4.       Now go to Diamond bank inside the school and pay #2,100 for the SUG fee and head to the SUG secretariat beside hostel D to get the official SUG receipt. As well photocopy it.

5.       Now go to the School of Science (SOSC) building and pay #2500 for your medicals. You will be given a receipt. As well photocopy the receipt and head to the school medical center located near the Hall of Mercy. Present your SUG receipt and you will be given a file which you will use for the whole Medical processes which includes; immunization, eye check, weight, height, pulse, BP, blood test and X-ray.

6.       Have it been up to one week since you paid your acceptance fee? If yes proceed to the SOSC building were you will change your Acceptance fee teller to the schools official receipt. As well don’t forget to photocopy it.

7.       Now take a bike to the Registrar’s office were you will present your Acceptance fee receipt and you will be given your Validity form.

8.       Now go back to the Senate and take your “confirmation of admission” form which makes you officially an admitted student.

9.       Now you have to make these items ready for your departmental clearance

o   Photocopy of your acceptance fee receipt

o   Photocopy of your departmental dues receipt

o   Photocopy of you SUG receipt

o   Photocopy of your Medical fee receipt

o   Birth cert

o   Attestation letter from a reputable source

o   Local Gov of origin

o   O’ level result

o   Original jamb result slip

o   Jamb admission letter

o   School admission letter

o   Confirmation of admission (Gotten from the senate)

o   Validity form

o   Post Ume result.

10.   Having done your departmental clearance you will given a form duly signed by the HOD of your department. This you will go with to FCMB Owerri to pay your School fees. It’s #45,800 for Geology students and #44,800 for others.

11.   Now you are almost through with your registration. If you will like to reside in the school hostel then rush to the SOSC building. Ask for were the Hostel admins stay. Write your name and course, on a sheet and give to them they will give you a small form which after feeling you head to the school’s micro finance Bank to pay the sum of #8,000 for your hostel. Return to the hostel admin with your school fee’s receipt and the Hostel receipt you got from the micro finance bank. You will be asked to return in few days when you will allocate a hostel.

12.   You have completed %80 of the whole process. Congrats because it ain’t easy. Relax take some days off and chill for the main academic work.

13.   Return to your department and request for your username and password. Which you will use in registering your course online.

This is the much I know for now as at 23/11/2011. HOW TO LINK YOUR BLOGGER POST LABELS TO PAGE TABS

It has been a very difficult task for bloggers creating new pages to your blogger blogs and linking it to their post labels.This is so because blogger's stand alone page are just static.However prior to now there had been a way of combating this as By editing the HTML template of the blog. Still at this it has also posed some problem to Newbies in blogging who find it difficult to deal with HTML codes.
However, the good news is that since the launch of the Bloggers Updated interface it is now very easy to add any page link including labels to the page gadgets and have them appear in your blog as stand alone pages as it is the case in my blog.
To do this follow this simple instructions;

1. Switch to the new interface by clicking the “Try the updated Blogger interface” link at the top of the screen (you can always return to old interface at any time).
2. Go to Dashboard and click the grey drop-down menu next to the blog you want to add the link to.
3. Select Pages.
4. Click New Page drop down and select Web Address. 
5. Go to your blog, look for where your post labels are and click on any one you want to use.
6. Copy the address that shows up at your address bar.
7. Enter the tab/page title and the address in 6 above in the respective text field.
8. Save by clicking Save Arrangement button.

AMAZON KINDLE FIRE; THE IPAD COMPETITOR

Few days ago Amazon released it's Kindle Fire tablet into the market. Since then the device has received wide reviews and comment. Most of which were of the possibility of this device overthrowing Apple's ipad devices. Therefore I painstakingly decided to surf the net in search of a good review on this Device and I came up with this from Mashable . I hope you learn a lot from it.

The $199 Amazon Kindle Fire is a worthy device. It’s not an iPad slayer, but it could be the first tablet to ably stand atop Mount Tabulous (or at least on a rock ledge just a few dozen feet lower) with Apple’s industry-dominating slab computer.

This is a product I wanted to love. The Kindle Fire’s unveiling was so impressive. Jeff Bezos hitting all the right notes in true Jobsian fashion, telling the tale of a product vision so clear it made my eyes tear up. Instead, now I’m discovering it’s a somewhat flawed gadget — a product that literally does not always know which way is up.

First the good stuff. The Amazon Kindle Fire is a tablet that simply works. From the moment you turn it on to the first time you download music from your own personal cloud to the minute you start watching a movie on the device and then continue watching on your HDTV — without connecting the device to the TV — you’re hooked. This is a smart tablet with a fully thought-out ecosystem. It is — and I don’t think Amazon would disagree with this — very Apple-like in its insistence in keeping you within the Amazon playground.

Having an Amazon account or, better yet, an Amazon Prime account ($79 per year for free 2-day shipping, one free book rental per month and free streaming flicks), opens a world of content possibilities on the 7-inch-screen device. Amazon, like Apple (and like Barnes and Noble with its upcoming Nook Tablet) has your credit card on file. It’s tied to your Amazon user name and account. For me, it’s also tied to my original Kindle 2. When I first started using the Kindle Fire, it was already tied to my account, but signing in with your Amazon account is also simple. This Fire calls itself “Lance’s 3rd Kindle” (that’s because I was also looking at the Kindle Touch). Each device syncs whatever content it can. In the case of the multimedia-friendly Fire, that’s books, magazines, music, apps and more.

How to Remove Malware From Your Windows PC

Is your computer running slower than usual? Are you getting lots of pop-ups? Have you seen other weird problems crop up? If so, your PC might be infected with a virus, spyware, or other malware--even if you have an antivirus program installed on it. Though other problems, such as hardware issues, can produce similar symptoms, it's best to check for malware if you aren't sure. But you don't necessarily need to call tech support or the geek across the street to scan for malware--I'll show you how to do it yourself.

Step 1: Enter Safe Mode

Keep your PC disconnected from the Internet, and don't use it until you're ready to clean your PC. This can help prevent the malware from spreading and/or leaking your private data.
If you think your PC may have a malware infection, boot your PC into Microsoft's Safe Mode. In this mode, only the minimum required programs and services are loaded. If any malware is set to load automatically when Windows starts, entering in this mode may prevent it from doing so.
To boot into Windows Safe Mode, first shut down your PC. Locate the F8 key on your PC's keyboard; turn the PC on; and as soon as you see anything on the screen, press the F8 key repeatedly. This should bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu; there, select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
You may find that your PC runs noticeably faster in Safe Mode. This could be a sign that your system has a malware infection, or it could mean that you have a lot of legitimate programs that normally start up alongside Windows.
